New book celebrating Hudson River Sailing.

Just in time for the holidays, look for the recent release Hudson River Sailing. Compiled by old friends Steve Schwartz & James Malchow - it's a step back in history featuring carefully chosen vintage photos along with well written and informative captions.  This latest edition from the "Images of America" series includes chapters on 19th century working sail, shipyards, river ports, yacht clubs, river celebrations, Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, Ferry Sloops and, most prominently, Ice Yachts!

Captain Steve is Vice-Commodore of the Hudson River Ice Yacht Club and long time Captain of the Beacon Sloop Club's ferry sloop, Woody Guthrie. Captain James is also a seasoned skipper on the Sloop Woody Guthrie. They present a rich overview of many aspects of sailing on the Hudson, from Albany to New York Harbor.

I understand it is on sale at Oblong Books in Rhinebeck. Ask your local store about it. Proceeds from book sales will be divided between Beacon Sloop Club and the Hudson River Ice Yacht Preservation Trust.  (There is a link on the Trust's site to order the book). Happy Reading, Happy Sailing!
